Maveric builds the brain of intelligent communication networks
Help us to understand which network problems AI should solve first – and in which industry!
We are Manjunath and Prudhvi, two researchers at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. As part of our work, we have found that it would be beneficial if the mobile network of the future could predict problems before they occur. For example, resources could then be used to prevent outages.
Today, this intelligence is still largely missing from real-world networks.
As part of our work, we use AI to make networks smarter and enable them to make autonomous decisions. Our next step is to understand where this intelligence creates the greatest value, which problems should be solved first, and who needs it most urgently.
Description
In today’s factories, hospitals and warehouses, robots, machines and sensors constantly exchange information without cables, through wireless networks such as 5G. When this connection fails, work can stop. Yet these networks are still mostly watched over by people, using simple tools. When something goes wrong, it often takes a long time to find out what happened and why.
We want to change that. We are developing artificial intelligence (AI) that keeps an eye on the network around the clock, much like a smart assistant. It notices when something is about to go wrong, finds the cause, and helps the network run better. Over time, it will also learn to take care of routine tasks on its own. It works with equipment from different manufacturers, and we introduce it step by step, so people always stay in control.
Wireless networks are becoming more and more important for industry, and we want to develop this solution together with the people who use them every day. We would love to know which network problems bother you most, where AI could help the most, who should use it first, and what it would take for you to trust AI with decisions like these.
Your experiences, challenges and ideas can help us build the smart networks of the future.
Challenge 1
#Target Industries: Factories, hospitals, ports and universities all depend on reliable wireless networks, but their needs are different. Which of them should we focus on first, and where could AI create the greatest value?
Challenge 2
#Trust in AI: AI can monitor the network, recommend actions, or eventually act on its own. How much control would you be comfortable giving it, and what would you need to see before trusting AI to make network decisions?
Challenge 3
#Experiences & Pilots: Have you ever brought a new technology into a company – as a user, supplier or integrator? What convinced the first customer to try it? What would you recommend to us when looking for a first pilot partner for an AI-supported network?

1. Start with really small companies or projects to gain trust and that leads to big ones.
2. Which companies are open or in need of the technology being offered. How can one find this out?
3. Where can one find the companies with such problems?
Approach the factories through university.
Market research and analysis would help you to understand which targets you will be looking for and adopted to the solution that you are providing.
