Shaping the future together: A vision for equitable communities
We are Laura, Nils and Veronika from the game studio Soft Spot:Games. Together with you, we’d like to further develop the way we interact with our community. Let’s take our community guidelines to the next level with your creative ideas!
Description
Are you already part of an online community? Would you be willing to contribute financially to the development of a game? How do we distribute the benefits fairly?

#Community: Step outside your own bubble – every online community is different, and we can’t possibly gain all that experience ourselves. Perhaps even Patreon? Why do you enjoy being part of the community, and what makes this community so special to you? If you’re not yet part of a community, what has held you back so far?

#Funding: As gamers, we’re constantly surprised by releases full of bugs and unfinished features. Through transparent development, we could ensure that, when the full version is released, we’re REALLY releasing a finished and well-thought-out game. However, the significant extra effort required means we need monthly financial support from our community. What monthly amount would you be willing to contribute to become part of the innovative development of our first game, ‘Kerfuffle’, and to have your ideas taken on board? How long would you be committed for, and what rewards would you like in return for your contribution?

#Fairness: Fairness in the distribution of our paid benefits is very important to us. Whilst we will fulfil our promised benefits on Patreon every month, there will still be people who may have joined right from the start and thus paid for more development time than patrons who might only join shortly before the full version is released. How can we ensure that patrons who joined early – and have therefore contributed more – feel they are treated just as fairly as those who join later? Do you have any experience from other communities or ideas on how we might achieve this?
We look forward to your feedback! Thank you very much!
Laura, Nils & Veronika, your team at Soft Spot:Games
